HOW TO DEFEAT CONSTANT WORRYING.
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
Isaiah 26:3
Hey friends! Rithika coming at you for the first time in like, 2 years. Crazy times, right? But this post was very spontaneous, as a breakthrough happened in my life today: freedom from worry. I am writing this, with my prayer being that worry would be defeated in your life and that you would know that it is possible to live a life of peace!
Now, I was a constant worrier for most of my life. I always seemed to have something to worry about. A common way to detect if you are a constant worrier is examining if you are EVER at peace with your present moment. Peace being a state of rest and calmness, where you can breathe in and breathe out in stillness, and your mind being calm instead of frantically thinking a thousand different thoughts a minute.
Worrying always takes us away from the present, and focuses us on a future scenario that we sometimes have little - to no control over. Worrying often indicates that there's something that needs solving or an answer for. We seem to most often find ourselves in those moments. The gap between what you have and what you need. We scramble and we solve to resolve, to move from point A to point B right away. We need an answer. We need a fix. Now, solutions are good. Don't negate your part that you can play using the incredibly smart human brain. But what if it was a mountain - or something in the 'too hard' basket. What if there was something that seemed way too impossible for a human to achieve on their own.
Well my friend, welcome to one of the most beautiful advantages to doing life with Christ.
When you walk out a life with Christ, you no longer are left to carry ANYTHING by yourself. Too many people - I mean too many, including myself, are prone to walk this life like we're the only ones in charge of our future and making things happen. If I carried a boulder on my own, let alone a mountain, I would be crushed. We can only do SO much, before we reach the limit our humanity brings about. We weren't meant to do life alone, nor be our own problem-solver, nor our own provider. Where's the relationship aspect in that? Hustling to get everything you want without God involved. Sounds a bit like you didn't want his help in the first place.
This is a call to live a life of relationship. He wants to be in it with you and provide His loving hand of help. He loves you and wants to play an active role in your life.
So, instead of worrying, I call this the three step rule - what I use when facing a big situation where I need a big answer to:
1st step: Pray
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6
The bible clearly says not to worry. But choose to entrust your requests to God.
2nd step: Trust
Ok so you prayed... now what. You may say you're still worrying. This is where the trust part comes in. Notice that scripture says "with thanksgiving". I encourage you to thank God right now, in faith, that He has heard your prayer!
Focus on His ability to work things out, not your own. Nor the severity of your circumstance. He is a God with whom ALL things are possible. He is a good Father, a relational God, who loves to takes care of you. He loves to work on your behalf, will you let him?
3rd step: Wait
After praying, there is sometimes an immediate answer, and other times an element of waiting. We need to trust God's pure intentions in the waiting, that He is not withholding from us, but knows what we don't! He also knows the perfect timing and will not disappoint.
Don't lose your faith during this time, but instead, know that the life you are walking out is one of faith and not of sight. Choose to believe God is trustworthy and will bring about answers. If you did all you could do... you can now rest. Don't pick up the pad and pen again and start obsessing over it. Just rest. It's being taken care of. Hallelujah.
He is a God that does exceeding, abundant, and above all that you ask, think, or imagine, so I am declaring over you, who reads this, that you would experience just that with what you are waiting for.
If you have fell prone to worrying right now, today is an opportunity, by the grace of God, to leave behind the old person of worry. I encourage you now to ask for forgiveness for living a life of worry, and start fresh today. You are a new person in Christ, and through His death and resurrection you now have access to a life of PEACE.
Take on your new life today, one filled with rest and peace that comes from praying, trusting, and waiting on God.
<3
Love,
Rithika
